Ballygally Beach

Ballygally Beach is an award-winning beach located in Ballygally, a quiet seaside village 10km north of Larne Town on the beautiful Causeway Coastal Route. The perfect spot for family days out, seaside adventures, water activities or romantic walks along the shore.

There are fantastic scenic views from Ballygally in all directions, up towards the Headlands of the North Antrim Coast, across the bay towards Scotland and The Maidens. With features such as Ballygally head and local landmarks Scawt Hill and Sallagh Braes overlooking the bay, it is a visual paradise.

The local shop, Spar Ballygally is just across the road, selling supplies, refreshments and ice cream with some picnic tables nearby. Adjacent to the beach is a large car park with toilets and baby changing facilities along with a water refill station. Nearby is a children’s play park which has been newly refurbished alongside a toddler area for smaller children. Ballygally castle hotel is situated opposite the beach itself and the Halfway House Hotel is located just 1km further north along the Coast Road (A2) where you can stop for lunch, dinner or a drink.

Access to the beach is either via steps or a sloped path. A viewpoint with seating is located close to the main entrance alongside the road and is wheelchair accessible.

Ballygally Beach has been awarded the Seaside Award for achieving the required standard of bathing water quality for its general cleanliness and provision of information and facilities. Bathing water quality here is classed as Good.
