Ballymullock Barn Lofts
Self-catering holiday let accommodation just a stones throw away from the beautiful Causeway Coast.
The McNinch family moved to the farm in 1912 and it has been passed down the generations to farm the land.
Built in 1903 as part of a working farm, the bottom lofts were used to keep horses and the top lofts (where the apartments are situated) were used for threshing corn as feed for livestock and horses. The old thresher was still a solid fixture in the lofts from this time, just being removed at the point of renovation.
In more recent years the lofts were used as storage for hay and straw, and at lambing time for ewes and lambs to be kept inside to protect them from weather before they were strong enough to go out to the fields.
Due to the age of the building, it needed repair. The alternative would be to pull it down however, given our history here, this was an idea none of our family were keen on. It was the heart of our family farm and to demolish it would be a shame…
…And so, that was how the idea of Ballymullock Barn Lofts was born. There are a range of apartments to choose from and can be viewed or booked through the website.
